Organizing 2.0 Conference in NYC

Events

On December 5th there will be the Organizing 2.0 Conference in New York City.  As per their website:

"Is online organizing really ‘organizing’? That’s a challenging question for those of us from a labor or community organizing background. That said, online organizing has received a lot of positive attention recently in connection with the presidential elections. What does this mean for our organizations? What skills do we need to share to make the most of no-longer-new online tools for our campaigns in New York?"

T4P will be in attendance

Officially working w/ Northwest Bronx Coalition

Announcements

T4P is now officially working with the Northwest Bronx Community & Clergy Coalition.  We will be helping them in all aspects of their use of technology from infrastructure to web presence and social networking, as well working with media team to document their campaigns.

The NWBCCC is the oldest community and social justice organizations in NY and they work on issues such as education, immigration, health care and housing.

The most current campaign we will be helping out with is the redevelopment proposal by Related Companies, Inc to build a shopping mall in the Kingsbridge Armory in the Northwest Bronx.  The Coalition is not against development, but wants to ensure a community benefits agreement, including a living wage provision is secured in the NYC's contract with Related.

Today,  17 Nov 2009, was the City Council's public hearing on the issue and T4P was there with the Coalition live tweeting and documenting the event.
